15th UNLOCK THE PAST CRUISE – provisional

As a result of the 2019 cruise survey we put out in September – and some new developments from Royal Caribbean since then we have decided on a 15th cruise – out of Sydney in March 2019.

Unfortunately none of the three Australian cruises options in the survey (Tasmania in Feb, Singapore in Mar, and South Pacific in Apr) are available to our group. The first two are booked ahead of us by other groups, the third has been withdrawn by Royal Caribbean.

There is double good news:

  1. we now have two excellent alternative cruise options
    • a shorter, lower cost alternative Pacific cruise 10-17 Mar
    • an alternative Sydney-Singapore cruise 29 Mar-13 Apr – a better price and a better conferencing ship than the one in the survey that we missed out on
  2. for the first time our group can book any cabin on a Royal Caribbean ship without a higher conference fee – not just the limited number we had to reserve in the past

We have a lead speaker in mind, but it is too early to announce anything. With 50 – 60 lecture topics we have plently of scope to offer our usual wide-range program with international appeal.

But we need to know your preferences from the two new cruise candidates. We expect make a decision in December based on your responses – and probably open for bookings early in the new year.

A SECOND 2019 CRUISE?

We are also considering a second cruise in 2019 in addition to the proposed March cruises – as follows:

Italian Mediterranean (from Southampton)
2019 schedules have not yet been released, but if similar to 2018 we can expect something like:

  • 14 nights, possibly Sep 2019 from AU$2400 (prices at Nov 2017) + conference fee
  • visiting Gibraltar, Nice (France), Rome (Italy), Florence/Pisa (Italy), Genoa (Italy), Malaga (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal)
  • a wide ranging two-stream program – approx 45 sessions (75 topics)

Further details will be given after 2019 cruise schedules are released – and IF we decide to offer it.
