Shore tours and seminars for our cruise group
Shore excursions and activities are a great way to see the places the ship visits or experience activities offered. For our first three cruises, no genealogy specific tours have been offered. From our fourth cruise we plan to offer visits to place of interest to our group in some cities. These may be genealogy societies, libraries, general or special interest archives or museums. Generally these will be introduced with a short presentation by one of our cruise experts or someone from the organisation concerned. Ample time will be usually be available then for research if desired or other site seeing or tours on offer.
Add on tours for our cruise group
Optional add on tours are a possibility in the future. These would usually be offered in partnership with other tour guides or operators. Some have already asked about coordinating their tours with our cruises. Examples might be:
- London research tour – from a UK or European based cruise. Similar tours may be possible for other places such as Scotland, Cornwall, Ireland, and Germany
- Researching Western Australian ancestors from cruise starting or finishing in Fremantle
- Researching New Zealand ancestors from cruises starting or finishing in Auckland
- Convict tours in and near Sydney and/or Norfolk Island for cruises starting or finishing in Sydney
Shore seminars for non-cruisers within reach of the ports visited
Our cruises offer a unique opportunity to bring expertise to many places that would not otherwise have such opportunity. Seminars were organised featuring our lead cruise presenters at all ten ports visited in New Zealand and Australia on our 2nd cruise. Something similar is expected for the four ports visited on the 4th cruise in February 2014.
Add on seminar tours with leading cruise presenters
These are to cities not visited during the cruise.
A six city British Isle genealogy seminar tour featuring Paul Milner, lead presenter from our 3rd cruise, was held around the 3rd cruise between 9 February and 4 March 2013.
A similar tour around the 4th cruise in February 2014 is under consideration – for cities not visited on the cruise.
